Title: "The Mountain Man" A Steep Descent Captured Forever in Bronze
Medium: Genuine Pure Bronze - Lost Wax Process (Cire Perdue)
Height: 28" (As each sculpture is individually made, sizes stated are approximate. Measurements of most works are from the bottom of the marble base to the highest point of the sculpture.)
Detailed Description : Slowly, with caution in every tense move, "The Mountain Man" descends a summit trail. His horse quivers nervously, lifting a hind leg and front hoof as the pair skid down the mountain. The rider tugs at the rein with one hand and steadies himself with the other. He leans back into the saddle and presses his legs into his steed. They continue the decline.
A casting of "The Mountain Man" recently sold for $1.1 million at Sotheby's auction house in New York in 2003.
