About the Editions: All original, museum quality giclees are hand titled and signed by Gerald Brimacombe in very small editions. Printed by the artist with a Canon (#6100) wide format 16-bit, 12-color printer on Crane Museo paper. The results are stunning. All inks are archival as is this fine paper. Known internationally for his scenic images, Gerald Brimacombe brings a new dimension to the fine art marketplace with his stunning series of original museum quality giclée prints. Starting with his original photograph, his giclées are created, controlled and printed entirely by the artist in his studio on a Canon wide-format printer. The new hybrid works are printed in small signed editions on the highest quality Crane Museo or Arches Infinity fine art acid-free paper with archival pigmented inks. His original giclées are museum quality, continuous-tone images that display a brilliance unobtainable through more traditional printing methods. This new technology is revolutionizing the perceived value of the photograph, and enables the artist to exercise an aesthetic control over his images that was simply not possible until the introduction of this advanced technology. His giclées are available in the following sheet sizes: 13 x 19", 17" x 22" and 24" x 36". A much larger 34" x 47" size is available by special order. Brimacombe has traveled throughout much of the world on a variety of assignments for magazines, cruise lines, airlines, advertising agencies and major corporations. In addition to his fine art prints, his photographs have graced the pages and covers of many signature calendars, posters, magazines, books, marketing brochures, cruise line catalogs, major ad campaigns and corporate annual reports. As a long-time special assignment photographer for LIFE Magazine, his images continue to appear in LIFE Special Editions, including a series in the newly released issue, "America the Beautiful". He is able to draw on his extensive, ever-growing library of scenic photographs to support his unique series of original giclées. Please note that it is neither necessary nor advisable to spray or otherwise treat these fine art prints to preserve them. Doing so will eventually yellow and deteriorate the image. When framing giclées, mounting behind museum glass is strongly advised.


About the Artist: On any given day you might find Gerald Brimacombe paddling the mirrored waters of Minnesota’s Canoe country, setting up his camera on the Champs Elysees or photographing a cruise ship navigating a spectacular Norwegian fjord. He has spent forty years combining the nuances of light and color into dynamic images that are marketed throughout the world. Known internationally for his scenic images, he brings a new dimension to the photographic equation with his stunning original giclée prints. Starting with an original digital or film based photograph, his giclées are created, controlled and printed by the artist in his studio. These new museum quality hybrid works are printed using a 12-color printer on the highest quality, acid-free Crane Museo paper with archival pigmented inks. They are continuous-tone images that feature color brilliance unobtainable through traditional printing methods. rimacombe has traveled throughout much of the world on a variety of assignments for magazines, cruise lines, airlines, advertising agencies and major corporations. His photographs have graced the pages and covers of many magazines, signature calendars, books, marketing brochures and national advertising campaigns. His work has appeared in LIFE, National Geographic Traveler, Audubon, People, Fortune, Time-Life Books, Smithsonian, Sports Illustrated, Business Week, Modern Maturity and Reader’s Digest to name a few. One of his impressive American farm scenes, taken originally for a Land O’Lakes butter national ad campaign, was selected for Eastman Kodak’s giant Colorama photo display in New York’s Grand Central Terminal, and was viewed by over thirty million people! He was commissioned to photograph scenes of Ireland for use in the North American advertising campaign for the Irish Tourist Board, which generated high visibility for his work in many magazines. He was commissioned by the U.S. Coast Guard to photograph their well-known training tall-ship, Eagle, off Bermuda for new recruitment advertising. He was commissioned by Holland America Line to photograph the Statendam in the fjords and passages of Northern Europe, and more recently photographed for Holland America Line and Windstar Cruises in the Hawaiian Islands, the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, Alaska, South America, the Amazon River and Antarctica. His travels have also taken him to Southeast Asia, the Orient and India. He was commissioned to shoot the cover photograph for a newly released history of the celebrated QE2 transatlantic liner during a High Arctic cruise. Although he is an experienced photographer of people, his love of the outdoors and the sea has focused his interests almost exclusively in recent years on travel and scenic photography. He continues his forty year association with LIFE Magazine as a notable contributor of images to their ongoing series of special issues. He was recently assigned by LIFE to photograph the last surviving Iwo Jima flag raiser, Charles "Chuck" Lindberg - since recently deceased - who's likeness is portrayed in the recent film: FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS. Ironically, Brimacombe began his career as a Marine photographer, and is a Korean veteran and member of the Marine Corps League and the First Marine Division Association. Combining his photography and writing skills, he has two books-in-progress: PORTS OF CALL – Gateways of Discovery and AMERICA’S SHORES –Special Meetings of Land and Sea, both of which also appear as a poster and calendar series. His recent book on Minnesota’s famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, TRAVELS IN CANOE COUNTRY (Bulfinch Press) was a sellout. Brimacombe is a native of Rochester, New York, and is the grandson of an accomplished sculptor. He began his career as a photojournalist in the Marine Corps. Before launching his successful free-lance career, he was chief photographer for the Minneapolis Star. He currently resides in Savage, Minnesota, and is an avid cross country skier, hiker and canoeist.
