Artist: Christian Title Title: Way to the Village Edition Size: 100 Medium: Iris Graphic Image Dimensions: 24" x 30" About the Art: Growing up in Los Angeles, California, Christian always knew he would become an artist. Having studied commercial art at the Los Angeles Art Center College of Design, his undergraduate studies were continued at Woodbury College until 1952. He then enrolled at the Beaux-Arts Academie in Paris, France. While living in Europe, a great deal of time was spent in the studios of various contemporary masters including Andre L'Hote, Oskar Kokoschka and Fernand Leger. After completing a degree at the Beaux-arts Academie, time was spent painting at the Academie Julian. During this period, Christian was enrolled at the Sorbonne University, where a doctorate was earned in 1955. In 1956, Christian Title completed his studies in Europe and returned to the United States. With the influence of two artists in neighboring studios, Paul Gerchik and Milton Gershgoren, the work fostered a much more brilliant palette. While developing his own style, Christian opened DeVille Galleries in 1957. He is one of the leading dealers of turn of the century American Impressionism paintings in the country. In his gallery, Christian also represented oil paintings from living contemporary Impressionists. Colville Publishing was formed in 1981 to represent the limited edition prints from this select group of artists. As chairman of Colville Publishing, Christian used his extensive art education and his own talented artistry along with over 43 years of gallery sales experience to build a publishing firm that represents the best of today's contemporary artists.
