With a deep love for cinema and music, Simpson’s photo realistic style illustrates frozen moments in time, inviting the viewer to inject a larger story into the painting. A graduate from the University of Leeds with a First Class degree in Fine Art, Simpson has garnered a number of awards including the Celeste Art Prize, Grieve + Samaritans Art Prize, Liberté d'Expression and the Nationwide Mercury Music Art Award. Simpson’s work is alive with a beautiful blend of vulnerability & sophistication. The characters in his paintings seem to depict the complexities of love set against city streets, parks and train stations. The mood in each painting is palpable.
