This work involved collecting data on wildlife populations in remote areas on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The pristine settings and my love of the wilderness encouraged me to continue work in this field. After years of working on projects with Simon Fraser University and the Canadian Wildlife Service, I found myself completely immersed in conservation. My time on the front lines of species conservation has had a profound influence on my worldview and correspondingly my art. I began painting in a new style, experimenting with impressionism on the edge of realism with birds as the subject matter. |
