About the Artist: Artist Duffy Sheridan has been painting most of his life. His father, also a painter, taught him the basics as a child, but Sheridan's wholehearted commitment to art began when, as a young man, he left his hometown in northern California to paint in the High Sierra mountains. Since then, he has traveled the remote corners of the world, with his wife and two sons, and has dedicated long periods to the development of his style.

Although he has spent many years in relative seclusion in such places as the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic and American Samoa in the South Pacific, outside of the mainstream of the art world, his work has attracted the attention of collectors on five continents and is included in government, corporate and private collections. His portraits can be found in prestigious institutions from the Deanery of Westminster Abbey to corporate headquarters in Manhattan as well as the private residences of kings, judges and bishops. Sheridan currently resides in Arizona.

Sheridan has held exhibitions in five countries, including a one-man show at the Royal Festival Hall in London. One of Sheridan's major projects was a commission by the Falkland Islands government to produce illustrations for their commemorative postage stamp issue for the 150th anniversary of the British settlement in the Falklands. This 11-stamp series covers the major historic events of the colony and includes portraits ranging from shepherds to royalty.

There is a robust and vital sense of presence in Sheridan's artwork. Sheridan says he has learned "to appreciate the richness of humankind and has come to believe that the purpose of his work should be to magnify the dignity and nobility of the human spirit and the singular beauty in all things. When someone looks at one of my paintings, I'd like them to see that man is, indeed, a noble being."
