About the Artist:Born in 1972 in the county of Wiltshire, England and living in a small village close to the beautiful City of Bath, David found inspiration in the stunning English countryside as well as the history and architecture that surrounded him. He would often head into the hills that overlooked the south coast of England and spend his days painting. Here he realized the vital role art played in his life and discovered that he felt most comfortable being able to express his feelings and moods on canvas. In 1992 he set off to travel around Europe and to devote himself fully to painting.
In Europe he was enraptured by the Mediterranean light and the vibrant colors that enveloped all. He spent months traveling through France and later settled in Madrid, Spain for a time before moving down to the Andalusian hills around Granada. Upon returning to England in 1995 he knew that art was now his life and after studying art in Bristol he held his first one man exhibition, winning rave reviews and great success.
In 2001 he visited New York for the first time for his wife's birthday and was overwhelmed by the energy and scale of the city. So excited and inspired by what he had photographed and sketched he could not wait to begin his first paintings of the city back in his studio in England. The resulting paintings form the first releases available in print by this artist.
Through his modern impressionist style, David is able to capture the energy and movement of the city and through his brushwork can bring out the beauty of the urban landscape. He loves nothing more than to be able to be amongst the inhabitants of the city, to walk the streets, to feel and experience the moment. He recognizes the importance of visiting cities at different times of the year in order to translate the varying light and color - whether it is the muted grays of a winter Parisian street, the vibrant array of colors of a summer afternoon in San Francisco or the crisp cool blues of downtown New York.
