Artist: Jules Moigniez
Title: "Eagle" (31.5" H) An Acclaimed Bronze Representing America's Heritage
Medium: Genuine Pure Bronze - Lost Wax Process (Cire Perdue)
Height: 31.5" (As each sculpture is individually made, sizes stated are approximate. Measurements of most works are from the bottom of the marble base to the highest point of the sculpture.)
Detailed Description : This large eagle is widely considered as one of the best sculpures of a bird of prey. Because it is signed "Moigniez" in the bronze, it is commonly attributed to the 19th Century French sculptor Jules Moigniez.
Most people are surprised to learn, therefore, that this piece was actually sculpted by California artist Max Turner in the late 1960's. An art dealer took it upon himself to add the "Moigniez" signature to boost early sales of the piece. Max, in fact, created most of the bronzes that contributed to building Moigniez's worldwide reputation as a master of the animal genre.
At Andevan Bronzeworks, we are privileged to work closely with Max Turner on his new sculptures and to benefit from his advice regarding castings of his earlier pieces, such as this magnificent "Eagle."
The eagle is mounted onto a marble base, stands 31.5" high by 18.5" wide, and is signed "J Moigniez" in the bronze. It has been crafted from the finest pure bronze by the talented artisans working in our own California art foundry, and finished with a gorgeous patina permanently fused into the metal under extreme heat.
There are many eagle bronzes available, but none finer than this beautiful work of art. Its quality ensures that it will last to be treasured for many hundreds of years.
About the Sculpture: Made in the U.S.A. certified pure bronze. Featuring recasts of hundreds of significant bronzes. Setting the standard in hand cast bronzes in the superior Lost Wax Process (Cire Perdue). Clay to wax to bronze-the lost wax process is a method for changing a sculpture made of soft clay into a harder material such as bronze, which captures the most minute detail of the artists original work. Practicing in the same manner of the old world masters, with devotion to quality, fidelity and detail. Recasts may be made from originals, reproductions or sculptured after paintings. Our skillful artisans take pride in casting the best foundry bronze.
