About the Artist:
Kerry Hallam is an artist that creates enticing images through bold, pure palettes and fascinating compositions. Hallam was born in Northern England and showed at an early age his artistic talent. He was awarded a six-year scholarship to London University's Central College of Art where he was able to study from British master painters such as Leslie Cole, Patrick Heron, and Hans Tisdale. Once his formal art education had concluded, he completed his military service in the prestigious Gurkha brigade. Hallam's talent was acknowledged when he was selected into Britain's Royal Society of Artists in Watercolor.
Enthusiasm for his art is evident in Kerry Hallamês vivid seascapes and timeless village scenes. Hallam has a strong affinity for the 19th century French Post-Impressionists such as Cezanne and Van Gogh. In the late 1960s, his painting career was halted by a brief interlude as a music performance. In 1973 Kerry Hallam moved to the New England region of the United States and completely dedicated himself to painting. He established his first studio in Boston and later opened a studio and gallery on Nantucket Island. Since then, he has lived and painted throughout the United States. Hallam is known for his power to evoke emotion, opulence of light and unique color harmonies. He translates the ordinary moment into a magical composition, which allows the viewer to be revitalized by the world's simple pleasures. His accomplishments include a first place award by the prestigious LêAssociation Pour le Promotion Artistique Francais, and being included in the collections of Brigitte Bardot, Bjorn Borg, the Marchioness of Queensbury, Lady Caroline Townsend, and the Virginia Heart Institute. Through numerous one-man shows, Kerry Hallam has been honored by galleries around the world in cities such as Paris, London, Tokyo, New York, Beverly Hills, Hong Kong, and San Francisco. A visual compilation of his lifeês work is currently available in the recently published book, Kerry Hallam, Artistic Visions.
