About the Art: David Jenks was raised and educated in Massachusetts, graduating from Williams College with a degree in Art History in 1965. He also attended the Yale Summer School of Music and Art and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He particularly admires the previous turn-of-the-century American Impressionists. In particular Jenks is influenced by Claude Monet, John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla because of their exquisite technique of painting light. A Californian since 1977, he is now based on the rugged Mendocino Coast. There he is most inspired by the transitory effects of light and sea and sky. He seeks to portray the beauty and he experience's in nature -the feeling of being there. His paintings have been featured in galleries across the country and in Japan. Articles on his work have appeared in Southwest Art, American Artist, and Art of the West. He is also an artist member of the California Art Club.
