Print Description:Imagine being on safari, parked under a tree, watching a leopard trying to steal a kill temporarily abandoned by a pride of lions. And then imagine finding yourself caught in the leopard's path once he's been spotted by the lions and runs directly toward you to escape (with the lions in hot pursuit)! Such was the drama that inspired Matthew Hillier to paint Spotted, depicting a leopard who has been treed by an angry lioness. As Hillier notes, cats really do have nine lives (and the same can be said of certain brave artists).
