About the Artist: For such a young man, the artistic talents of Argishti Musakhanyan have already made a strong mark. His love of art, his individual style, sense of composition and bold use of color belie his age, and his artistic technique matures with each painting that he completes.

Born in May, 1986, in Armenia, Argishti was two years old when he emigrated to the United States with his parents. "I always wanted to be an artist," he notes. When he was only an infant, his father, a successful and highly regarded artist in his own right, put a paint brush in his hand. So it came as no surprise when Argishti mixed paint with brush very early in his childhood, and he has been painting ever since.

The results were immediately recognized. At age seven, he entered his first art competition, "Sun from the Eyes of Children" in Glendale, CA. Argishti ranked first among 200 entrants ages five to fourteen.

In 1994, Argishti enrolled in the Visual and Performing Art School of Los Angeles. His works were exhibited there and in numerous city art shows. Because of his growing talent, he was deemed worthy of acceptance into an artists program at Cal State University.

In 1996, Argishti's work was selected to grace the invitations and brochures of the University of Southern California's "Beauty" art show. The following year, he won the "Planet Fest" art competition in Pasadena, CA.

His first commercial showing, the 1998 Los Angeles Art Expo, was a tremendous success as a number of collectors and art dealers recognized his growing talent.

Argishti's paintings are inspired by ideas derived from nature and from personal experience. Before beginning a painting, he will complete 10 to 15 sketches. Acrylics are his preferred medium, and a large painting can take him up to three months to complete.

Argishti's interests go beyond the world of art, and his parents have wisely decided that he should develop as a whole person. He plays piano, violin, guitar, flute and saxophone, and when working in the studio that he shares with his father, he listens to classical music. Among his favorite activities is visiting museums where he enjoys contemplating the works of other artists such as Picasso, van Gogh and Dali. Like most boys his age, Argishti loves playing sports, especially basketball. Michael Jordan is his favorite player. He enjoys going to movies with his friends, especially comedies, and visiting theme parks.

Argishti believes that there is a plan for everyone, and that by using his artistic gifts, he is following, as he says, "the road that's right for me." He currently resides in California with his family.
