Title Banyan Walk-Peacock
Edition::Limited Edition S/N Canvas 180
Image size: 24" x 42 "
About the Print : Trailing its resplendent tail like an exotic magic carpet, a colorful peacock makes its way through an overgrown Indian jungle. An aged giant banyan tree looms above, its branches taking root all along the jungle floor, surrounding the peacock's path. Bateman loves to juxtapose ancient settings with vibrant living creatures. In Banyan Walk, the tree's tangled branches echo the pattern of the bird's legs, and the monochromatic jungle foliage contrasts with the bird's brilliant plumage. In its own way, this piece tells a visual story as engaging as any by Kipling.
