About the Artist:

Charles Shaw was born in Austin, Texas in 1941. He lived and worked in Central Texas in his hill country home in Dripping Springs. He was an author as well as an artist and was the art director for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine. On April 4th, 2000 Shaw was selected as the featured artist of the Austin Fine Arts Festival.

His influences include: Malcolm Thurgood with whom he studied life drawing, Howard Pyle, John Singer Sargent, Frans Hals, and Norman Rockwell who was Shaw’s sponsor into the Society of Illustrators in New York.

Typical subjects for Shaw are Texas frontier lifestyles, children and jazz musicians.

Shaw died in 2005.
