About the Artist:
The artist was born in 1680 and died in 1763.
The traditional art at that time was often onto the panels of folding screens using ink, colour and gold on paper and often portraying birds such as Peacocks and Peahens with Peonies growing on bushes.
This Japanese artist was also a specialist in wood-cuts, which were then printed on 18th century Japanese Mulberry paper and various Gods were often the subject of the work.
The artist worked in both Osaka and Edo and his art was strongly influenced by Ancient Chinese and Japanese Masters. Hokusai was a major admirer of Shunboku`s art.
