About the Art: Superior Edition
About the Artist:
He was born and died in the 17th century in Antwerp. Trained by his father, he spent the whole of his career producing work in a similar style as did his brother Ambrosius. He produced landscapes, allegorical scenes and other works with meticulous detail. Additionally, he also copied work by his father and sold them with his father`s signature! His work is distinguishable from that of his father by being less well executed and lighter. He was made Dean of the Guild of St. Luke in 1630 and was also commissioned in that year to paint the `Adam`s Cycle`. Among his other clients were the Austrian Court and he collaborated with a number of prominent artists, including his brother-in-law David Teniers the Younger and his father-in-law Abraham Janssens.
