About the Artist:
He began painting while serving a six-month prison sentence for minor theft and during the latter part of his life he achieved considerable success with his vivid intricate pictures recalling the East End of his childhood. There is a dream-like quality to these visions and sharp focus of an emotionalised cityscape or rural scenes, created at a time when the Jewish people were leaving to seek better housing in the suburbs. He deserves to be recognised for capturing a time and an era in London which no longer exists.
