About The Art: Bob Wygant enjoyed painting all parts of Texas and admits freely that the Frio (River) is one of his favorites. The rocky terrain and the sparkling water give the scene a great deal of textural interest. What cowboy wouldn't want to be there and pause for a few moments to take in the various colors of the water and the submerged rocky bottom. Those would be a painting in themselves. Bob Wygant, who many feel is the father of Texas art, offers this refreshing piece featuring elk crossing a river in the mist of early morning. The day will be sunny and bright, but bitter cold. Snow covers the bushes that border the river giving the piece a delicacy not often seen in such pieces. Wygant's paintings hang in many corporate collections in Texas and surrounding states. Although he has been best known for his cowboys, many of his works feature elk and deer in "magical" settings.
