About the Art: Born in California, Nancy Davidson was influenced at an early age by her grandparent's Ed Borein etchings. Given her love of horses, it was natural for her to want to draw them. After attending Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, Davidson started using horses as symbols in large oil paintings. In recent years she has concentrated on horses as her primary image. "There is something wonderfully grand and compelling about horses. Whether we are riders or spectators or dreamers, it's the beauty, power and heart of the horse that enchants us," says Davidson. Over the past decade, Davidson's work has been selected for shows at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Redding Museum and Art Center, The Tucson Museum of Art and at the International Museum of the Hose in Lexington, Kentucky. She has been a national finalist in The Artist's Magazine Annual Wildlife Painting Competition. In addition she has participated in art shows at the Pendleton Roundup, the Draft Horse Classic, the Ceres Western Art Show, the Cattleman's Association Show and the Grand National Rodeo at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Davidson was chosen by The Equine Image magazine for its millennium artist feature in the December 1999/January 2000 issue. Nancy's equine artwork was printed in the June 1993 publication of Western Horseman.
