Detailed Description : This gorgeous bronze by 19th century French sculptor Jean-Louis Gregoire depicts a near-naked youth clipping the wings of a dove to ensure its captivity. The sculpture's great detail and its introspective mood showcase this artist's tremendous talent.
This sculpture has been cast by the experienced artisans in our own California art foundry from the finest pure bronze. The patina finish is deep and rich, and has been permanently fused into the metal itself under very high heat. "Captivity" is mounted onto a marble base, stands 28" tall by 9" wide, and is signed "Gregoire" in the bronze. This is a top quality artwork that will continue to impress viewers hundreds of years from today.
