About the Artist:

Charles Church was born in 1970. Originally from Northumberland and now settled in Dorset, Church’s paintings depict the environment that he loves; the Dorset coast, local hunting scenes and farming life. He is one of the country's foremost equestrian artists and is renowned for his paintings of hunting, racing and polo scenes. Working from life, his paintings embrace the inherent charm and timelessness of English country life. Whether capturing the still quiet of a morning hunt, rare breeds of farm animals or remote moorland ponies, Church’s paintings celebrate Britain’s diverse rural heritage.

Church completed his academic training at the renowned Charles Cecil Studio in Florence, where he studied classical realism and portraiture. Since this time, one of his greatest influences has been Sir Alfred Munnings and his painting style has evolved to reflect both his formal training and his personal tastes in art.

Since returning to England, the artist has exhibited widely in the UK, US and Europe. He has completed many commissions including The Royal Pageant of the Horse for H.R.H. Queen Elizabeth II. His paintings are highly sought after and his recent exhibition Great British, endorsed by H.R.H. Prince Charles, as Patron of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, almost sold out within hours of its opening.

Selected patrons and collectors of Charles Church’s work include Lord Somerleyton, Sheikh Nawaf Al Thani, Lord Huntingdon, Mr. & Mrs. M. Tollemache, Mr. R. Fleming, Major General Webb-Carter, The Hon. S. Cayzer, The Hon. S. Burrell, His Grace The Duke of Roxburgh, Lady Pearson, Mr. Seymour Cohn, Mr.William Fox-Pitt, The National Stud, The Injured Jockeys Fund, The Portman Hunt and The Countryside Alliance.
