About the Art: Superior Edition
About the Artist:
Leonard Campbell Taylor (1874-1969)
The artist was educated at Cheltenham College, having been born in Oxford. He studied at The Royal Academy between 1895 and 1900 and was elected a member of The Royal Academy in 1931. He specialised in portraits and interiors, painted in a very traditional style, and amongst his very prestigious list of patrons were the founding family of Courtaulds and, of course, The Courtauld Institute of Art.
He served as an official war artist, firstly, with the Infantry and later with The Royal Navy during the First World War and his war art was regarded, primarily, as documentary in nature and extremely accurate.
His art can be found in a number of Museums both in the U.K. and overseas.
