About the Artist:
Born in the Sunderland area of England in 1872, Blacklock was a sensitive genre artist who worked in oil and water-colours with a rich impressive technique.
Having moved from Sunderland to Leicester via London, he was formally educated at the Royal Cambrian Academy. His particular interest in landscapes and genre with a strong thread of everyday activities won him numerous admirers.
Blacklock exhibited successfully throughout England, most notably at the Royal Academy between 1897 and 1909. Other venues included the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Brighton Exposition of 1909, Edinburgh's School of Art and Royal Institute, and the Walberswick and Suffolk Street Galleries.
