About the Artist:
Thomas Wilmer Dewing was an American painter working at the turn of the 20th century. Schooled in Paris, he was noted for his figure painting of aristocratic women. He spent many summers at the Cornish Art Colony in New Hampshire, although sadly during that time he lost both his children. He virtually gave up painting in 1920 living out his later years in his Cornish, New Hampshire home. His wife died in 1927 in New York and Dewing died in 1938 in New York.
