About the Artist:
Willem Swidde was a Dutch engraver, born in 1661.
In 1687 he married and moved to Stockholm, where he engraved the plates for Puffendorf's Life of Charles Gustave. In 1695, he also engraved several of the plates for a work entitled Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna.
He died in Stockholm in 1697.
