About the Artist: Growing up in a coastal community in the 60's and 70's, Larry Moore had two major influences in his life other than his family: the nature behind his house, and the ocean in front of his house. The nature behind consisted of undeveloped islands and pristine salt water rivers teaming with trout, porpoises, manatees, pelicans and herons. The ocean was unobstructed by man's edifices, lined with sand and sea oats, pines and palms and became his favorite and primary playground.
Larry Moore started making art at a relatively early stage and by high school, was a "professional" making surf culture wear, airbrushing surfboards and murals and vans. A college degree in graphic design lead to a career as an illustrator and since this time Larry has taken up plein-air painting.
"My art", Larry Moore says, "is an extension of my youth, the expression of my joy for nature that I reveled in as a child. It has become my purpose to bring nature back to the viewer. It is my response to a world of commercial construction and the destruction of nature. To put the glory of the natural world we live and play in back on a pedestal where it belongs."
