About the Artist:
Hugh Monahan (1940-1970) was born in Dublin and took art classes at The Slade in London.
He had a preference for painting in oils and secured his reputation with his atmospheric trademark pictures of wildfowl. He was a talented artist and created movement in his subjects.
He became President of the Wildfowlers Association between 1953-1956. He exhibited regularly both in Dublin and The Tryon Gallery in London, amongst others.
