About the Artist:
He was born in Honfleur, the son of a sailor and the sea was in his blood. Boudin opened a shop in Le Havre selling stationery and picture frames and thus came into contact with artists working in the area and started to exhibit paintings in his shop. At the age of 22 he abandoned the world of commerce to start painting full-time. Boudin lived both in France and for a time in Antwerp and travelled extensively. He died in Deauville in 1898.
